Complete refurbishment of a Grade II Listed former school, altering the building’s typology and creating a large family dwelling, in addition to incorporating a contemporary extension. This project encompassed a complete internal overhaul of the existing building, enabling the homeowners to create a seven-bedroom luxury house, with two modern living spaces.
The extension is of a steel frame and masonry construction, with vertical cedar cladding, and standing seam coated steel and felt roof. A clean minimalist finish internally to the existing building continues the property’s styling.
The extension has been carefully considered to enhance and complement the historic building and its setting, a significant planning challenge, given its listed status.
