Burwell Baptist Church extension 06/10/2006
The existing toilet facilities serving this building were accommodated in poor and decaying extension. It was decided to remove and replace these facilities and at the same time create additional kitchen and meeting room accommodation. The design involved wrapping around the rear hall of the church building, taking the extension right to the northern boundary, eliminating the possibility of having windows in this elevation, therefore high level clerestory lights were formed by using a mono-pitch roof structure over this part of the building. In addition to creating new accommodation a new rear entrance suitable for disabled access was required. To achieve this a new rear entrance path was constructed, which gradually descends to the rear entrance door as it winds through the grave stones of the church yard from the road to the east.
