The design of the house gives picturesque views from the main living spaces out over the mere in the grounds. The large living room has a fully glazed oak-framed wall to maximise these views and daylight within.
The Cottage is located in rural Suffolk and before works began was a 3 bedroom bungalow. The works comprised of partial demolition and a rebuild to create a spacious 2 storey family house, with a remodeled ground floor layout.
Queen Annes Summerhouse, Old Warden Park, Bedfordshire 26/04/2010
Queen Annes Summerhouse is an early 18th century grade 2 listed pavilion set in woodlands in the grade 2* listed Old Warden Park. Constructed of high quality rubbed red brick it has been rescued from a state of dereliction by the Landmark Trust for use as a holiday home.
The original early sixteenth century Grade II listed timber framed and thatched former farmhouse was severely damaged by fire in February 2006. The damage was so comprehensive there was ultimately no option but to demolish the remains and construct a new house on exactly the same site.
A typical mediaeval parish church of flint and limestone construction with nave, chancel, south porch and a west tower. The church is remote from the main settlement and surrounded by fields open. Two phases of work have been undertaken, the first being the replacement of the nave and chancel roofs and rainwater goods, and the second phase the consolidation and repair of the tower.
