Whitworth Chartered Architects and Building Surveyors are currently advertising for a Building Surveyor.

Applicants should be either RICS Chartered, AssocRICS or in the process of APC. A successful applicant will undertake a range of roles across the spectrum of surveying including:

▪ Pre Purchase Surveys (equivalent of RICS level 3)

▪ Defects Analysis

▪ Condition Surveys

▪ Party Wall Inspections

▪ Schedules of Works

Whitworth is a multi-disciplinary practice of architects and surveyors and the primary role will be to undertake survey work. The successful applicant will also work on the project side: running projects and assisting with architectural work and preparing planning applications, construction detailing and tendering documents. Applicants will need to be confident working on their own and in a team, have good people skills and have an ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing in a clear, concise manner.

The practice works across all sectors of the industry but with a focus on residential and conservation work. Residential surveys in particular will focus on listed buildings and heritage assets, and understanding and analysing the issues (or lack thereof) and advising accordingly. Knowledge and interest of conservation and historic buildings is required and will form a key part of the day-to-day job. Conservation accreditation is not necessary but a successful applicant will be encouraged and supported to work towards this.

The role will be based from our head office in Bury St Edmunds with the option of also working from Bishops Stortford and Norwich, along with home working and travel throughout the East of England.

Expenses for mileage and phone and a laptop and all required equipment will be provided. A full driving licence and own car with business insurance will be required.

Wage will be subject to experience level.
