Extension & Refurbishment

Although the building was generally in a sound condition, the works undertaken by new owners included repairs to decayed timbers in the walls, repairs to windows and external render, re roofing together with replacing the roof covering. A small extension was added to the rear of the property to allow the kitchen to be extended to provide a seating area, this was then re fitted along with replacement Bathrooms.  Mechanical and electrical services were upgraded to comply with modern regulations.

The Grade II listed Coach house had been unused for a number of years and was beginning to decay as a result of leaks in the roof.  The client wished to convert the building in to a studio and bring it back in to use.  Access to the site was very restricted making it difficult to enter by car, to overcome this permission was granted to remove a lean to  section at one end which had been used at a tack room and Coachman’s accommodation. The remainder of the building consisted of a stable and coach store on the ground floor and hay loft above. The Coach store was converted to house a staircase to the first floor, a WC and kitchen facilities. The building was re roofed, the floor strengthened and the whole space insulated to enable the building to be throughout the year.
