Partner (Architect)

Mark’s professional experience, together with his commitment to design excellence, established him as one of Whitworth’s associates in 2005, 8 years after he joined the practice Mark was appointed as a partner in 2008.

Mark’s design philosophy is to achieve interventions or additions into a site that are sensitive to the character and locality of their surroundings whilst accomplishing something that is contemporary of our time, to take the schemes beyond just the pragmatic requirements of clients. This has led to his success in various projects, including several church re-ordering and extension schemes and Baptist church extensions, and notably several Baptist Church extensions, The internal re-ordering of Uppingham School chapel and an extension to Binham priory. Mark has also undertake a variety of other types of work including a partially sheltered housing scheme in Coddenham, and a new sports hall facility at Finborough School, set in the listed parkland setting of Finborough Hall. The majority of works that Mark has undertaken are either within or connected to a Listed building and on sensitive sites, requiring appropriate use of materials and construction techniques.
