As the 1st phase of works, creating improved access, is now completed at Peterborough Cathedral, phase 2 has now commenced. This HLF-funded work will convert 2 precinct buildings into a combined heritage and education centre, which will enhance the Cathedral’s visitor experience and ability to connect with and educate local schools. The buildings to be converted are a Grade 2 listed property, most recently occupied as a residential dwelling and a chamber sat over the arch to the Bishop’s Palace, known as the Knights Chamber, a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
The works comprise the conversion and restoration of the buildings and creating new facilities within them, as well as exhibition and education spaces.
